New methods of farming

(ONE OF A SERIES )

Beside Brother Patricio, who serves as pastor, there are two other brothers living here. Brother Xavier is from France and was recently stationed in Algiers, and Brother Jorge is from Brazil.

While Brother Patricio enjoys the pastoral ministry of the parish and work on the farm, the other two brothers have choosen a more contemplative form of life, but the farm has an abundance of workers available from nearby towns.

The farm is not limited to raising goats. The brothers have a richly cultivated garden and they experiment with organic methods of composting and building up the soil.

A walk through the garden area resembles a walk in the tropics because of the lush and thick growth of plants and trees. From their experimentation, the brothers hope to be able to help the peasants of the area in developing new methods of farming.
