Opening our eyes to the truth: Periodical and internet resources
(ONE OF A
SERIES
)
Solidarity with the people of Latin America requires that we be willing to learn more about the actual reality of their lives.
Because of corporate and governmental economic self-interest, the dominant media in this country rarely report the suffering endured by our brothers and sisters throughout Latin America.
Even less frequently are the causes for the extreme poverty ever named and analyzed, since the wealthiest nations of the world are implicated in this suffering.
The following are some print and internet resources that offer access to that harsh reality -- and an opportunity to begin to see the world with open eyes. Only when our eyes are open can we find a way to be in active solidarity with those with whom we share this world.
