Abbot Jeremias Schroder with oblates and friends of Weston Priory
From June 18 to 22, 2026, brother Richard represented our Weston Priory community at the General Chapter of Benedictine Monasteries in the Swiss-American Congregation at Westminster Abbey, Mission, British Columbia, Canada. With the encouragement of the Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation, Jeremias Schroder, we formally requested an experimental period of three years with their Congregation. On June 21st the Monastic Chapter of the Swiss-American Congregation voted, in their own words, "overwhelmingly" in favor of receiving Weston Priory for this experience in their Congregation.

| The participants at the General Chapter of the Swiss-American Congregation Throughout our history, from our foundation (1952) by Abbot Leo Rudloff of the Dormition Abbey in Jerusalem (our brother Leo), we have been officially part of the Benedictine Confederation directly under the auspices of the Abbot Primate in Rome. A Benedictine Congregation offers fraternal contact to monastic communities in order to support and strengthen one another. The Swiss-American Congregation incorporates 14 Benedictine men's monasteries of diverse traditions in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Guatemala. Through visits and exchanges with monks in the leadership of the Congregation, we have been assured that the unique characteristics and traditions of Weston Priory will be valued and affirmed in their Congregation. Following the General Chapter in British Colombia, Canada, we were honored with the visit of the Abbot Primate to our community from June 23 to 26.  *** |
